Pambanar is a plantation town in Peerumedu taluk, Idukki district in Kerala. It is known for its picturesque landscapes, tea and spice plantations, and pleasant climate. One of the notable attractions of Parunthumpara is the visibility of the famous Makarajyothi light. This light appears on the Ponnambalamedu hill in Sabarimala and is a significant event for Sabarimala pilgrims. Many pilgrims visit Parunthumpara to witness the Makarajyothi, making it a popular and often crowded destination during the pilgrimage season.
