Nari Ko Naman Scheme is a welfare programme launched by former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur in July 2022. The inauguration was just four months before Himachal Pradesh legislative assembly election. This scheme will provide 50% concession to all women passengers in Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) within the state.
During the launching ceremony, Seema Thakur, the first woman bus driver in Himachal Pradesh, drove Chief Minister in the state transport bus to the event venue.
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur announced different welfare schemes to the people in different events including a reduction of minimum bus fare to Rs 5 from Rs 7. He also sanctioned induction of 25 women drivers in the “Ride with Pride” scheme of HRTC.
