Tiger Corridor in Rajasthan

Rajasthan Government has planned to develop a new functional tiger corridor connecting three tiger reserves of state. Rathambore tiger reserve in Sawai Madhopur district, Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve in Kota district and Ramgarh Vishdhari tiger reserve in Bundi district will be connected by a corridor for a safe and free movement of tigers and animals among these three isolated habitats.

Newly created Ramgarh Vishdhari sanctuary will link Rathanbore Tiger Reserve on north east side and Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve on south side. Currently Rathambore Tiger Reserve is facing the issue of overpopulation of more than 60 tigers while Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve is just left with tigers below 5. This corridor will enable to balance tiger population distribution among three reserves.

Tiger population in Rajasthan is growing, latest survey counted 91 tigers in Rajasthan. India is home to more than 80% of total world tiger tigers.

For growthof tiger population, one tigress each has been released to both Mukundra Hill Tiger Reserve and Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve in 2023.
