Varattiyak is a small junction town in Kunnamangalam grama panchayath of Kozhikode district, Kerala. It is situated just 2 kilometers away from Kunnamangalam.
There is a PWD rest house in Varattiyak. This rest house initially was for Government officials but general public can also stay here after a booking confirmation. Varattiyak was a small underdeveloped village, but new construction and retail business booming attract people from surrounding areas to here. Varattiyak has recently become a fast food hub with the availability of traditional and arabic varieties. Proximity to Kunnamangalam gives an advantage. Varattiyak is situated on Mukkam – Kunnamangalam road.
New housing apartments are being set up in and around Varattiyak.
Famous Pilassery road starts from Varattiyak. This road connects Kunnamangalam – Mukkam road and National Highway 766 ( Kozhikode to Kollegal ).
Kalarikandy, Pilassery, Chethukadavu, Kunnamangalam are neighboring towns of Varattiyak. There is a road starting from the town to Milma known as Milma road.
6. Varattiyak is basically an agrarian village where rice, coconut, arecanut, banana, tapioca are grown. There are large paddy fields located between Varattiyak and Chethukadavu. Cherupuzha, a tributary of Chaliyar river, flows through Chethukadavu, a neighborhood of Varattiyak.
Varattyak-Pilassery road has been developed and converted to a wide two line road and the same road leads to Thamarassery through Manipuram town near Koduvally and the same road is and alternative road of National High Way 766
