Kattangal

Kattangal is a major junction in southern part of Kozhikode district, Kerala. One can access to Malappuram district and to western ghat mountain ranges of Malabar region from here.

Most important attraction of Kattangal is National Institute of Technology,  a premier technology institute of the country. Students from all over India come to NIT and town became a multicultural small township. Another institute located in Kattangal is National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT).

Kattangal is part of Chathamangalam panchayath. Grama Panchayath headquarters is situated in Kattangal.

Famous MVR Cancer center, a premier cancer treatment and research centre in Kerala is situated in Chuloor, Kattangal.

Regional poultry farm is in Kattangal. It is a farm in about 5 acres. It supply chicks to neighboring districts. Approximately more than 10000 chicks are supplied from here weekly.

Dayapuram Educational and Cultural Centre, a prestigious educational institution  is situated here

Mavoor Koduvally road and Kozhikode Mukkam road intersect in Kattangal.

Kattangal is famous for its Thangal family,  descendants of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), situated in Kalanthodu. Many muslims in adjacent villages traditionally visit and seek advice from Thangal.
