Kaniyarkandam is a small village in Omassery panchayath of Kozhikode district in Kerala. The village is located on Kerala state highway 68 which connects historical Kappad and Adivaram town.
The village is situated between Puthoor and Manipuram. Well connected by roads. Private and KSRTC buses are available. Koduvally town is 5 kilometers away from Kaniyarkandam. Omassery town is 2 kilometers away. People depend on Omassery and Koduvally for their shopping and trading needs.
Kaniyarkandam is a Muslim majority village. IUML is the major political party and regularly wins local body elections. All muslims here are Sunnis. Both AP and EK factions of Sunnis are very active here.
Several youths in Kaniyarkandam are working in Gulf countries and send the remittances which make the backbone of village economy.
There is a juma masjid is located in the village town.
