Rainforest Alliance is an international non-profit organization dedicated to conserving biodiversity and promoting sustainability of environment and socially just practices in farming and forestry in rainforests and elsewhere. Rainforest Alliance has been creating an alliance of farmers, companies, forest communities and consumers throughout the world to ensure its commitment to create a world where people and nature live in harmony. The organization provides many training programmes and works to conserve biodiversity and ensure sustainable livelihoods by transforming land-use practices, business practices and consumer behavior. The major aim of Rainforest Alliance is to protect the remaining forest cover in the world and improve the the forest cover further.

Rainforest Alliance was founded in 1987 by Daniel Katz, an American environmental activist. The organization gives its “seal of approval ” to certain products such as wood, paper, coffee and bananas, that it certifies were produced in accordance with specific environmental and human rights standards.
