Sierra Club

Sierra Club is one of the oldest grass-root organization for the conservation of natural resources in United States of America. The organization mainly operates all over U.S and other parts of the world like Canada. It was founded in 1892 by John Muir, Scottish-American conservationist. He was the first president and led the organization 20 years as president. Sierra Club has presence in all 50 states of USA and has been lobbying politicians and policy makers for environmental friendly policies.

Its goals have included protecting wildlife and wilderness areas, keeping air and water clean and curtailing global warming, such as by encouraging the reduction of fossil fuel use and passage of laws that require better motor-vehicle fuel efficiency. It also conducts international campaigns related to overpopulation, international trade and global climate change, clean energy, clean water, smart growth and zero waste.
