Sotheara Chhim

Sotheara Chhim is a Combodian psychiatrist and mental health advocate who has worked to heal Combodians from baksbat (broken courage), a unique trauma of fear, anxiety and depression caused by autocratic rule and genocide conducted by Khmer Rouge rulers in the country .He was one of the first generation Combodian psychiatrists graduated after the end of Khmer Rouge regime. He received his MD from University of Health Science, Phnompenh and he is a certified psychiatrist from the University of Health Science, Norway. He holds a Master in Psychological Medicine from the University of New South Wales, Sydney . In 2022, Sotheara Chhim received Ramon Magsaysay Award which is widely known as Nobel Prize of Asia.
