Thiruvegappura

Thiruvegappura is one of the main town in Palakkad district on Malappuram – Palakkad border. It is located on Valanchery – Koppam road. Thiruvegappura is situated between Valanchery and Koppam at equal distance of 6 kilometers.

Thoothapuzha from Thiruvegappura bridge

Thoothapuzha, a tributary of Bharathappuzha is flowing through Thiruvegappura. This river separates Malappuram and Palakkad districts. Thoothapuzha merges with Bharathappuzha at neighboring Irimbiliyam panchayath.

Thiruvegappura is called as a gateway to Palakkad district as one approaches from Valanchery crossing Thoothapuzha.

Thiruvegappura mahadeva temple was built in 14th century. The temple is located on the shore of Thoothapuzha, a tributary of Bharathappuzha. It is one of the major temples in Kerala and it is unique because of the presence of three prime deities (Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu and Lord Sankaranarayana). Three flags (Kodimaram) that coexist in a single temple complex.

Thiruvegappura bridge

Thiruvegappura is also a grama panchayath headquartered at neighboring village of West kaipuram. Naranathu bhranthan temple and Rayaranellur hills are located just 3 kilometers away from Thiruvegappura town.

The town is well connected by roads. Valanchery – Koppam road is passing through the town.
