Omassery

Omassery is a fast growing town in the eastern part of Kozhikode district, Kerala

Situated 25 kilometers away from Kozhikode city in the eastern part of the Kozhikode district, Kerala. Thamarassery, Mukkam, Koduvally and Thiruvambady are the neighboring towns.

Omassery is known as the gateway to the highrange of western ghat mountain in the Kozhikode district. Almost all mountain towns of the southern Kozhikode district are easily accessible from Omassery town with well connected road system. Omassery is one of the fast growing commercial centre of the Kozhikode district. The town is in a phase of building boom that is spread through all the approaching roads. The roads to Thamarassery,  Thiruvambady,  Mukkam and Koduvally are becoming busy commercial streets. Massive infrastructure development is powered by gulf money which is a major income of Omassery.

The standard of living in Omassery is above average and middle class families are the backbone of commercial growth. There is a huge number of people seek labour in gulf countries especially in Saudi Arabia and UAE. Qatar, Kuwait and Oman has also a substantial amount people from Omassery and neighboring areas.

The town is well connected by two major Kerala state highways. State highway 68 ( Adivaram to Kappad) and State highway 34 ( Koyilandi to Edavanna) intersect in Omassery town.

Santhi hospital, a prestigious healthcare centre in the region established in 1988 is located here. Even People from far reaching areas depend on Santhi hospital. Outstanding Gynecology and Obstetrics service is the main attraction of the hospital. There is a good emergency department in the hospital. This is the first choice of people in this area superseding Government health infrastructure. There is a Government Primary health centre in Omassery.

Omassery is very famous for Arabic food. Arabic food restaurants can be seen in different parts of the town. Chicken, beef, quail and fish are easily available in Omassery.
