Paalan 1000

Paalan 1000 is a central government sponsored programme to eliminate child death and to decrease Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) through a comprehensive 1000 days programme. Accordingly to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, first 1000 days establish a solid platform for a child’s physical, mental, emotional, cognitive and social health. Paalan 1000 scheme extends training and guidance to parents, families and caregivers to meet the needs. Along with the programme, Ministry has launched The Parenting App to provide information and guidance to parents and guardians to keep update the parents about the needs of children. The App will help parents to monitor child’s needs  and timely intervention will keep children out of danger and will boost their physical and mental health.

Paalan 1000 National Campaign was launched by Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Bharati Pravin Pawar on August 2022. Infant Mortality Rate in India is much better than neighboring countries. In 2014, IMR was 45 per 1000 live births and in 2022 it was reduced to nearly 30 per 1000 live births. Prematurity, low birth weight and Pneumonia are the major causes of Infant Mortality in India. All these three constitutes more than 50% of the total causes of infant mortality in India. Diarrhoeal diseases, birth asphyxia, birth trauma, congenital anomalies and other injuries are other major causes of child deaths.
