Vallikkapatta is a small junction town in Malappuram district of Kerala. The town is located on Manjeri – Perinthalmanna road. Vallikkapatta – Koottilangadi road which connects both Koottilangadi and Vallikkapatta. It is 6 kilometers away from Manjeri town.
Vallikkapatta is part of Koottilangadi panchayath and Mankada legislative constituency. It belongs to Malappuram Loksabha constituency. Vallikkapatta was part of Palakkad district before forming Malappuram district. During British era it was part of Valluvanadu taluk as it is located south of Pandallur mala.
Vallikkapatta Blind school
It is a private aided blind school founded in 1955. Currently it has 8 classrooms and more than 50 students. Vallikkapatta blind school is the only one of its kind in Malappuram district.
Poonkudil Mana
Poonkudilmana is a reputed and ancient ayurvedic treatment centre in Vallikkapatta which is located on Manjeri – Perinthalmanna road. This centre is specialized for those who suffer from anxieties and mental agonies. Poonkudilmana is believed to have a long history dating back to the era of King Vikramadithya and Vararuchi, a scholar in Vikramadithya’s court. Poonkudilmana is widely believed to have relation with “Parayi petta panthirukulam” a popular folktale in Kerala.
Earlier the Poonkudilmana was part of Naranamangalath mana, descendants of Naranath bhranthan. Around AD 1500 it was divided into three and Poonkudilmana was assigned responsibilities for psychiatric treatment.
