Athippatta

Athippatta is a small residential village in Edayur grama panchayath of Malappuram district near Valanchery town. It is a junction among Valanchery municipality, Edayur panchayath, Moorkkanad panchayath and Irimbiliyam panchayath. Valanchery is the nearest major town which is situated 6 kilometers away on Valanchery – Perinthalmanna – Nilambur state highway 73.

Athippatta village is well known after Athippatta Moideenkutty Musliar who was a prominent Islamic scholar, a Sufi and Samastha leader. He was born in Achipra village near Kottakkal and moved to Athippatta near Valanchery in 1980’s. He worked 27 years in Ministry of Auqaf and Islamic Affairs of United Arab Emirates. Athippatta Usthad, through his simple and spiritual life which attracted many pravasi malayalese for his majlis held in Al Ain Sunni Centre. After his retirement at the age of 70 ( retirement age during Sheikh Zayed was 70 and now changed to 60), he returned to India and focused more on strengthening Samastha Kerala Jemiyyathul Ulama.
