Tinka Tinka foundation headed by Dr.Nanda, a jail activist has launched “Jail Radio” project in Hariyana jails. This project is a collaboration between Hariyana Government and Tinka Tinka foundation. The first Jail Radio was launched in Panipat District Prison in 2021. Jail Radio is an in-house production run by inmates of the jail. The programmes are broadcast from a studio inside the premises and reach to the inmates through speakers in the barracks. The aim is to bring out the inmate’s creativity, give them meaningful engagement. Dr.Nanda said that the most important aspect of the project was that it is for the inmates. There is no commercial interest, outside intervention, advertisements and commercial breaks.
