MV Ganga Vilas is a luxury river cruise vessel flagged off by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in January, 2023 which is the first cruise vessel to be made in India. It is the world’s longest river cruise, covering a distance of 3200 km in 51 days. The five-star luxury cruise has 18 suites and can accommodate 36 persons and 40 crew members. It has an attractive 40-seater restaurant which located on the main dock.
The journey starts from Varanasi of Uttar Pradesh, known as “spiritual capital of India”, and ends in Dibrugarh of Assam, well know as the “tea city of india”. The cruise will meander through 27 different rivers of Ganga, Meghna and Brahmaputra river systems in India and Bangladesh. Ganga Vilas will stop at 50 destinations which include National Parks, World Heritage Sites, religious sites and major cities on the coast of rivers like Patna, Kolkata, Dhaka and Guwahati.
The first voyage of the Ganga Vilas carried 32 tourists from Switzerland. The journey has been designed to capture India’s rich heritage and cultural, religious and historical sites as well as geographical diversity.
