Chelimada

Chelimada is a village in Kumily panchayath in Idukki district, Kerala. It is part of Kumily town. It is two kilometers away from Kumily located on Kottayam- Kumily road. Proximity to the famous tourist destination, Thekkady, make the village a fast growing village. Chelimada and surrounding areas were paddy fields in beginning of the twentieth century. The name might be derived from it. The meaning of “cheli” is mud and “mada” means area.

Kumily- Anavilasam- Kattapana road starts from Chelimada. This is a shortcut to Kattapana from Kumily. Town is surrounded by cardomom and tea cultivation. Chelimada has many spice gardens which are a major tourist attractions in Thekkady.Tourists often visit to different spice farms.

Chelimada houses many four star hotels and properties like Forest Canopy and Nucleus. St. agustine hospital is situated close chelimada.

Rose Park, an adventurous and amusement park, is situated close to Chelimada.
