Palathara Gate is a small village town in Paruthur grama panchayath of Palakkad district, Kerala. The town is located on Thiruvegappura – Pallipuram road. This village is located 5 kilometers away from Thiruvegappura town. It is an extension of Palathara town.
The name Palathara Gate is derived from the railway gate which is situated in the middle of the town. This railway gate is between Kuttipuram and Pattamby stations.
Palathara Gate is well connected by roads. It is a major junction town in Paruthur grama panchayath. There are good road connectivity to major neighboring towns like Valanchery, Thiruvegappura, Koppam, Pattamby and Thrithala. Paruthur Higher secondary school, a major educational centre in Paruthur grama panchayath, is located at Nadaparambu town, a neighborhood of Palathara Gate.
Palathara Gate and adjacent areas have vast paddy fields flooded by two major rivers of Kerala, Bharathappuzha and Kunthipuzha ( locally known as Thoothapuzha ). Thoothapuzha merges with Bharathappuzha at Irimbiliyam panchayath, very close to Palathara Gate. Rice is the major crop cultivated here. Coconut, arecanut, banana, tapioca are also cultivated.
